Keeping Your Apartment Warm For the Holidays!

December has arrived, which means things are probably a lot frostier over at your apartment! With this in mind, it’s important to take the time to prepare your home for when it’s time to beat the chill and keep things nice and warm!

With this in mind, I’m breaking down some handy tips and tricks to help you ensure a comfy, toasty living space just in time for the holidays. Ready to get started? Let’s go!

First, always pay attention to your thermostat! If you’re someone who’s very frugal, chances are you’re not going to want to be adjusting your thermostat too much during the season! That said, you should always keep an eye on the weather and ensure that you’re keeping nice and warm! There’s a difference between being a little chilly indoors and outright freezing. Keep your thermostat at an appropriate temperature and make sure you’re not letting it drop too much for the sake of saving money! Remember, keeping warm prevents future illness and the last thing you want is a cold during icy weather!

On the heels of paying attention to bad weather, always keep a close eye on your pipes. After the Texas freeze, I can’t begin to restate enough just how essential it is to always recognize keeping your pipes up to scratch in the event of a big winter storm. Keep the faucet running during nights with high temperatures and make sure to listen for strange creaking noises throughout your apartment. It’s also important to have a flashlight on hand in case the power goes out!

Thirdly, take advantage of insulation! Keep your windows tightly sealed and move all furniture away from blocking potential vents and openings that will help your apartment heat up faster! The goal is to trap as much warm air as possible so that things don’t get too icy. Always bundle up as well whenever possible. Wear heavier clothing and keep plenty of warm food options in the apartment as well. Every little bit helps when it comes to beating the cold!

These are only a few basic points of knowledge but it’s important to always stay warm and alert during your holidays. Stretch out your different options and look for handy, cost-effective ways of expanding your horizons. With a little time and effort, you’ll have everything you need to ensure a cozy, relaxing apartment environment that you’ll be happy to come home to during the winter season!
